This is me

My name is Alicia Busuttil, I was born in 2001 on the small sunny island of Malta. From a very young age I was interested in fashion, designing attire from even the simplest of things. This passion only grew as I got older. During Secondary school I took textile lessons, learning more about fabric, and graphical communication to help me with the technical side of designing. Outside of school I attended private art lessons for 8 years to develop my imagination and improve my drawing skills. Finishing Secondary school I followed my dream and continued my education in fashion at MCAST. There I learnt new things associated with fashion, this time broadening my intellectual side of business and retail, also including marketing, accounts and hands on sewing. All this lead to attending and taking part in the Malta Fashion Week 2019, encouraging me to always have faith in what I do.

Skills and Strengths

In the past few years I have gained many skills in this field. Pattern and sewing were the first to be acquired and further improved upon. Following this, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign were picked up. The portfolio shows this skill throughout the boards and designs showcased. Independent studying led me into the world of natural dyes and eco prints, the use of a knitting machine was also explored and many interesting designs were made. Natural and sustainable fashion is one sector I wish to further explore and delve into, to create something that will help save the environment. This is my dream and I believe that through hard work and perseverance I shall achieve it and overcome hard struggles along the way.
